Pat Curtin Final Post Reflection
Individually.
My main strengths throughout the activity could be my ability to communicate effectively, work well with the team and also encourage others to reach their full potential. The weakness that I felt I had during the activity was trying to micro-manage the teams every move. I feel that I was very controlling for the first few weeks, I could see the final picture in my head and I wanted the team to see it too. I wanted everything to be perfect and exactly as I had it planned, Not everything that I plan works! The team had a few technical issues with regards to setting up but as a team we overcame them and succeeded on the day.
This was a useful experience for me as it shows that my standards could be too high and that I can make mistakes and that it's OK to do this, it's not the mistake that's made it is the way you overcome it that counts. My team showed me that everyone's skills are important and that working together using everyone's strengths we can achieve great things.
I don't feel like the activity has helped me in the work place much due to the fact that I am not in charge of a team and can't see me running any team events, socially its has made me appreciate the differences people can bring to the group and that your weakness can be improved by working with others.
Reflection
My main achievement was that ability to delegate tasks to my team members knowing that I didn't need to do it all myself. The skill off delegation is one I struggle with but having strong workers on the team helped me to enjoy the task set knowing that the work would be getting done and done well. I feel that I worked well as I am a strong leader but I feel that I would be better suited to a deputy role so that I don't have all the control this may help me further.
