Group Minutes - Final Post

1. How did we ensure health and safety requirements were covered?

Health and safety requirements were followed throughout the 11 weeks of the enterprise activity. Customers were made aware of all of the ingredients of the cakes by using disclaimers and having notes on the table. This made sure that we were covered for any allergies. Gloves were provided as an option to use for people taking part in the I’m a Student activity. There were both latex and latex free gloves for those who have allergies. We had age restrictions on the alcohol prizes in the tombolo and made sure that no alcohol was given to anyone under the age of 18.

2. How well did we work as a team?

Overall, we believe that our group cooperated were together and advised or assisted each other when necessary. Each member of the group participated equally and used initiative on the day of the event and helped each other overcome any issues that arose on the day. Each member was very polite and friendly to customers and have enthusiasm and appropriate behaviour on the day.

3. What our group enjoyed the most?

Our group really enjoyed helping each other and working as a team, equally sharing roles and participation in the group. We enjoyed dealing with members of the public as some members of the group have not had this opportunity before. Some of the team members said that they enjoyed sampling the cakes and truffles - including the seagull who decided to check that they weren’t poisonous. But most importantly, we enjoyed watching and looking back to see what we had achieved as a group and how successful we had actually been.

     4. What our group enjoyed the least?

Our group felt that there was a lack of organisation with the tombolo prizes at the start of the event. This made it difficult when trying to find the number of the prize that the customer had won. This meant that we had to renumber the prizes and set them up in ascending numerical order to overcome this issue. Some of the members said that they disliked trying to give away the fruit that was leftover at the end of the event as it had a poor selling rate. Other people said that the weather was a problem as although it was sunny on the day, the weather was very unpredictable and we kept experiencing large gusts of wind which were blowing some of the equipment away. We also disliked the disorganisation of the handover of the stalls. Some of the students from other stalls had to leave to go to classes in which we were happy to take over their stalls. However, we were given no explanation or guidance into what was happening with the stalls and which money box belonged to whom. This made it difficult with the adding up of the money as it was unclear which equipment belonged to which stall.

   5. What would we change in the future?

We would ensure that we had better organisation with the raffle and tombola prizes. It would benefit from having more members in the team as we had three stalls between six people and were kindly helped from some of the members of other groups making the event flow so much easier. We believed that it would have benefitted from being on the different date - even the week before giving us more time to complete anything after the event as we have left it to the last week. Also, a lot of the students on other courses had finished their course and were not present on the day. We also believe that the music could have been played earlier in the day as this attracted a lot of people over to see what was happening and would have meant that this would have happened earlier in the day.
